On April 9, 2026, the Morocco Desert Challenge will kick off, one of the largest yet most accessible rally-raids in the world. This 2026 edition, aptly named “The Dunes Edition”, promises to be an exceptional spectacle with a strong focus on vast dunes and pure desert navigation.
The linear route stretches over no less than 2,800 kilometers, divided into 8 stages, taking participants from Ouarzazate to the Mediterranean seaside town of Saïdia, across Morocco’s most breathtaking landscapes. This year, competitors will face an even more challenging terrain, dominated by dunes, where technical driving skills and navigation abilities will be pushed to their limits. Two days ago, top navigator Sébastien Delaunay initiated the opening with the final route reconnaissance.
The rally once again features a strong international field, with participants from 28 different nationalities. In total, 138 rally-raid vehicles will line up at the start, divided across several categories:
In addition, 2 helicopters, 171 assistance vehicles and a 150-member organization ensure impressive logistical support. Altogether, the bivouac hosts nearly 700 people on a daily basis, making the Morocco Desert Challenge a large-scale international event.
The Morocco Desert Challenge is once again organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, highlighting the importance and national recognition of the event.
With its unique mix of accessibility, top-level organization, challenging terrain and roadbooks, and international atmosphere, the Morocco Desert Challenge once again confirms its position as a benchmark in rally-raid, for both amateurs and experienced teams.
The countdown has begun — on April 11, the adventure will officially start with the prologue near Ouarzazate.
